My bleach blonde highlights are hibernating right now. Winter's a coming so I thought I needed a change- I almost forgot what I looked like with my natural hair color and that's never good. So I'm back to my au natural tresses, although I put a little auburn highlight in it- I'm trying to test drive that color to see if it's me.

So I debuted my new pin-up/ pin back look while out on the town last night and I bought my NikkiGirl clutch out with me too and both the hair and the bag were a hit. So I think I'll keep it au natural for now.

New bag!

I love browsing fabric stores for one of a kind fabrics to make something unique. My mind has been swirling with the idea of doing some bags with Native American themed prints recently. So when I went over to one of my favorites fabric store this weekend and came across some lovely Native looking prints I was estatic to say the least.

This is one of the fabrics I picked up. I thought this fabric screamed Kaya, so I just finished the Kaya in this lovely creamy wool print. I also copped some more goodies- the results will debut soon.

In the meanwhile, Kaya in Navajo Beige will be in the shop sometime this week, so check back.

I recently discovered...

Well not recently exactly, maybe a few months ago...Blackeyepea Creations. Painter and artist extraordinaire behind this company of eclectic, unique, fun and creative art and crafts is Magalie Foster.

Magalie's artwork is so sensual it seems to jump out at you with textures so rich. The characters she immortalizes feel familiar as they put you in touch with your powerful self.

I love the coppery colors in the works below, titled Peaceful Butterfly, (l) and Rustic Root (r). Both make you feel warm just looking at it.... If I had a fireplace this would be perfect over it.

These kids don't belong to you, but yet you want to bring them into your home...

These two are simply titled Keeanah (l) and Sweet Sarai(r), found in Children's Art

I'm also loving BlackeyePea's journal books they carry, they would make a great gift for anyone and come in a nice selection of pretty cool covers, like this lovely lady below.

So I was watching Ellen the other day and she had a segment were little kids came on the show in their Halloween costume to "trick or treat" on the show. The kids were soooo cute and they had the coolest costumes.

One set of kids came as the couple- Kate and William of the "Royal" fame, and the little boy creatively had a plush whale sort of thing around his waist to symbolize the Prince of Wales.. It was so cool and I wanted to see more... I felt like a little kid myself- all of the kids looked so happy. I wanted to be a kid all over again.

Ella Lai. Amazing pieces that I'm loving!! Just my style... They have gotten the tailored, yet feminine chic look just right.

While perusing the Net a Porter site to check out the lastest fall boots, I came across this leopard print tote...
And I'm thinking to myself hummmm, our version, The Kimmy bag, is way prettier and more stylish. Well that sounds a little competitive, but hey for the asking price of Maje's tote- a mere $860, I thought I could be a little opinionated.

Granted our version has the animal print made of a cotton blend and the Maje tote animal print is actually calfskin. But...

Oh Yeah, Fall has started nicely...

I attended a few events related to the various fashion week goings on back in September. This year was the first time I went to Philly Fashion week. I landed at the Cocktail chic event to check out the runway presentations of Strangefruit, Melody Thomas (of Project Runway) and a special menswear presentation by Banana Republic, styled by Kevin Parker, Founder of Philly fashion week.

The Strangefruit and Melody Thomas presentations left me totally flat. I didn't really have any expectations as I wasnt familiar with either line- I was simply an eager spectator and well the previous sentence sums it up.

Banana Republic was well Banana Republic and Kevin did a nice job of putting the looks together, see below, and the model selection was nice too.

I met with Kevin and at only 26, he has been producing the fashion week for the past 5 years, which is truly impressive. He and co-founder Kerry Scott have truly put together a beautiful production of shows and events.

Next year I will be looking forward to checking out the couture presentations. Kudos to Philly!

I love denim and I love hobos, so here's the marriage of both. I made this one in a just perfect size where it can have a nice silhouette on your arm and still hold your daily stuff. Plus, it has an essential interior pocket to hold your cell, keys etc. and of course- a nice little leather strap.

I fell in love with this denim because it is the perfect grade. There are all types of denims out there and this one is soft, yet sturdy with a broken in feel and in just the right shade of blue. Get the W.A.N. (Without A Name) hobo here in my Etsy shop.

Today I finished up my first leather belt. Im calling this only Kelley cause I made it to complement the kelley handbag. I made it with the same strong, yet pliable leather as the Kelley bag. This belt is fabulous I couldnt wait to show it off today, it gives your waist a feminine cinch and I love the soft kow that sits in front. It measures about 2" wide and has soft petal shaped ends.

Is maddening. So its April fools day and I couldn't really think of a joke today. Maybe its because I'm in a bad mood. The weather has been bummy and time either seems to be moving so slow or I've been in hyper mode running around with a million things to do and not quite knowing where to start. I wanna get back to that middle place, but somehow its been eluding me the past few days...

I guess its the planets...

This morning that H&M jacket popped into my head. The one I saw a few weeks ago. Why didn't I get it when I was at the store? I bet its not there anymore... It looks something like the one below. I love these kind of jackets, with that military/safari look. Today would be a perfect day for this jacket. With some thin gold bangles.some flat leather sandals.hooked up with the Scout clutch and an oversized sweater. Yep perfect for this dreary, wet, cold day. On the Phillies home opener no less!

I'm not really a "shopper" which is contrary to what most people would assume about a designer. Im one of those people who like to go in to a store and find exactly what I'm looking for, ring it up and get out- much like a guy. But for some reason just thinking about shopping is getting me back to my middle place...

So my boy brought this story home in his homework book the other day.. And well read for yourself.

The Devil & The Duck

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with in the woods. he practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner.

As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved.
In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch the next day, Grandma said "Sally, let's wash the dishes". But Sally said "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen". Then she whispered to him " Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry, but I need Sally to help me make supper". Sally just smiled and said, "Well that's alright, because Johnny told me he wanted to help." She whispered again, "Remember the duck?"

So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his and Sally's chores, he finally couldn't stand it and longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, "Sweetheart, I know". You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing. But because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."

Thought for the day and every day thereafter: Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done---and the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, debt, fear, hatred, anger, unforgiveness, bitterness, etc.) whatever it is, you need to know that God (ummm,disclaimer no religious preference here) was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing, He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know tat He loves you and that you are forgiven. He was just wondering how long you would let the devil make a slave of you.

The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only forgives you, but He forgets- it is only by God's grace and Mercy that we are saved.

Ok, so I finished the mini version, see pictured, of what I'm calling the "Taylor" clutch. These clutches are made of a beautiful soft pebbled leather with a two toned splash painted design which is truly one of a kind. Well the folks at William Rast did, you know Justin Timberlake's fashion line. Well I picked up a pair of the William's Rast Target line skinny jeans yesterday and let's just say I was floored. The best fitting and looking jeans that Ive ever owned. That's no easy feat either cause although I'm a mere size 6 I do have curves..

These jeans fit in all the right ways. No need to spend a ton of loot on good jeans, I copped these for a mere $12.98, on sale. Even at the regular price which I think was like $30, you can not beat that for these bangers.

It's the day after Christmas...

and I'm working on some mini, itty bitty things. Today I finished up some cute little red leather coin cases that I am adding to an Etsy store that I opened a few months ago, but never got around to working on.

The Etsy shop is called NKHenry Editions and i'm using it for some projects that I started recently- stuff that's handmade straight from me to you:). I plan to carry lifestyle novelty items in this store like Ipod cases, cosmetic bags etc. I also have some cool pencil/pen cases in the store now, and I 'll be steadily adding new stuff over the next week or so.

Money Karma?

Just in time for the Holidays:)

So I went a shopping today, yes I'm one of those last minuters...I usually don't get started until about a week before Christmas each year. So anyway, at this particular store, which shall remain nameless, the cashier gave me back $27 too much change. That in and of itself is remarkable, but what makes it even more remarkable is that the item I bought was exactly $3.00 and I gave her exactly $3.00!

I was confused about the transaction so initially I thought I had mistakenly given her a $20 dollar bill. But I looked in my wallet and woala the only $20 I had with me was still there. How this happened who knows- blame it on Mercury retrograde, but I did lose $20 about 3 weeks ago...

So I text my friend about my little transaction and he tells me that I should give I back, God will bless me 10 times more he says... Well, Im already out the store I say....

So then I go to another store right after this and the cashier at this store gives me back .30something cents back too much, but I realize it before I walk away and I gave it back. Go figure, I guess the leprechauns are at work.

Where's Perfecto?

Our Perfecto bag which was to debut this Fall has been postponed. I decided that the design needed to be reowrked so that it is truly Perfect. It will be made in leather instead of the original waterproof nylon that I originally had the sample made.

So, Perfecto will be revisted in Summer 2011. Thanks to those who were interested and emailed me on this one. Keep me workin!

What's cuter and more chic than a bowtie bracelet?

I absolutely love this bracelet! Here I'm wearing the leather bracelet in this season's hot color, Grey.

We reworked our bowtie look that we first debut last season as a bangle after I was inspired by these new Louis Vuitton shoes pictured below. We made it as a snap bracelet so the bracelet fits nice and snug on your arm and the bowtie remains front and center.

The bracelet is also available in Chocolate and Black & White (which is a very chic look for evening).

This will definitely be your go to piece when you want to add a little punch to your look, be it day night or in between.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for Spring/Summer '011 collections is under way and so far here are some of the collections I am really liking...

Alexander Berardi

Love this jumper.

I also really like the ethereal dresses in muted pastel colors from Tadashi Shoji. I'm really looking forward to seeing highlights from the Michael Kors and Adam Lippes show, they rarely disappoint.

In contrast, the Duckie Brown S/S'11 collection is well, not my cup of tea. I usually like what they make but their collection looks like sleepwear mostly. I have seen girls here in Philly walking around in pajamas, with the straight out of the bed look, um nasty... For a designer to incorporate this styling into designs and put it on the runway is almost insulting.

Why pay Duckie Brown prices for something that looks like you can probably find at the nearest Conway?

Pink Diamonds is a cool label with some some chic affordable pieces, most under $100. I will definitely be adding some of their pieces to my wardrobe this Fall and Winter. You can find a good assortment of their pieces online over at yesstyle.com

Check out these new earrings just off the press. I was inspired by some fly girl at a flea market wearing a brass pair of earrings with a similar shape so I decided to make my own version of them in leather. We used a sturdy, yet lightweight leather on pure copper earwire to further complement the boho chic look.

I call them half moons obviously for the shape.They look amazing on, plus they are light as a feather.

These are a limited edition style, we only made several pair so get them while we have them. Only $24, these are a steal, baby.

Kitten lounge shows us some love

Femme Leather cuff = Love

Yes New Jerseyians do have fashion sense...NJFW kicks off this fall from Oct.11-12.

Runway shows, an accessories exhibit, beauty bar, parties and after parties- this event is sure to draw a slew of celebs, fashion enthusiast and fashion bloggers alike to see what talent Jersey has to offer.

New Jersey Fashion week was founded by fashion maven Donella Tilery of the shopdonnella.com boutique.I first had a chance to meet Donella last year at the FGI Rising Stars cocktail party where we were both nominees for the prestigious award. Donella is a fly mamacita who definitely has a passion for fashion.

New Jersey Fashion Week will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure® North Jersey Affiliate.
